  • 1 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils)
  • 4 cups rice flour
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1/2 inch ginger, grated
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
  1. Soak the moong dal in water for a few hours. Drain the water and grind the dal into a smooth paste.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground dal, rice flour, chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, chopped coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well to form a thick batter.
  3. Grease the steaming plates or idli molds with oil. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the plates, creating small round dumplings (farre).
  4. Steam the dumplings for about 15-20 minutes or until they are cooked through.
  5. Once done, let them cool slightly and then serve these dal ke farre with your favorite chutney or yogurt.
