Ingredients
Instructions
-
In a bowl, marinate the chicken pieces with yogurt, turmeric powder, and a pinch of salt. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
-
In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn translucent.
-
Stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chili. Cook for another minute until the raw smell disappears.
-
Add ground almonds or cashews, tomato paste, ground cumin, ground coriander, and chili powder. Cook the spices for 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously to avoid burning.
-
Now, add the marinated chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.
-
Pour water into the pan and bring it to a gentle simmer. Cover the pan and cook the chicken for about 15-20 minutes or until it's tender and fully cooked.
-
Stir in the garam masala and season with salt according to your taste.
-
Finally, add fresh cream or coconut milk to the chicken and mix well.
-
Let it simmer for another 2 minutes.
-
Garnish with chopped cilantro (coriander leaves) before serving.
Note
- For a more tender and juicy chicken, marinate the chicken pieces in yogurt and spices for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
- Adjust the level of spiciness according to your preference. You can add more or fewer chili peppers to suit your taste.
- If you prefer a nuttier flavor, you can toast the nuts (almonds, cashews) before blending them into the sauce.
