Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.

Once the cumin seeds crackle, add chopped onion and green chili.

Sauté until the onions are translucent.

Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

Add all the spices - coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Mix well.

Add boiled chickpeas and 1/4 cup of water. Mix everything well.

Cook for 10-15 minutes until the chana masala has thickened and the chickpeas are coated with the masala.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
Note
- You can use canned chickpeas if you don't want to cook them from scratch.
- Adjust the amount of green chili according to your taste preference.
- You can also add lemon juice for some tanginess.
